China Raises Eyebrows Over US Role in LuBian Hack, Citing Potential for Hidden Access

China has intensified scrutiny of U.S. involvement in the 2020 LuBian cryptocurrency exchange hack following the Department of Justice (DOJ)’s seizure of 127,000 Bitcoin (BTC), representing its largest crypto forfeiture ever. The DOJ’s action sheds light on the incident, where a lesser-known exchange was compromised, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars in Bitcoin. However, China’s Cybersecurity Emergency Response Center (CVERC) has questioned the US government’s ability to track and access these funds, highlighting a potential link to hidden backdoors or international cooperation between the agencies.
