FSA Backs Japan’s Major Banks in Stablecoin Trial

Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) has endorsed a stablecoin initiative by three major banks: MUFG, SMBC, and Mizuho, set to begin testing in November 2025. The program will explore yen-backed stablecoins, supported by Progmat and managed by Mitsubishi Corporation. This move signifies Japan’s embrace of regulatory compliance while integrating cryptocurrencies into its financial ecosystem.
