Whale Buys $800K USDX After Stablecoin Depegs, But Redemption Remains Pending

A prominent cryptocurrency whale has taken advantage of a recent plunge in the USDX stablecoin’s price. This investor bought $800,000 worth of USDT (Tether) to purchase 933,241 USDX shortly after the peg broke at $0.3887, aiming for profit if the coin recovers its value. The whale’s move came days after a similar opportunity on November 1st, when they bought another 1.4 million USDX and submitted those tokens for redemption, expecting to make around $135,000. 1,350,000 USDX were purchased and then redeemed, but the process has been stuck for over three hours. The delay in completing the redemption is raising eyebrows. While stablecoins aim for easy and fast redemptions, there could be technical hurdles such as a lack of liquidity or pressure on the system behind this hold-up.
