Hong Kong Charges Crypto Influencers Over JPEX Promotion, Philippines Enacts Anti-Corruption Blockchain Bill

Hong Kong authorities have formally charged prominent cryptocurrency influencers for promoting the defunct exchange JPEX. Prosecutors allege these individuals knowingly or recklessly promoted JPEX while failing to disclose its unlicensed status in Hong Kong. As a result of their actions, over 2,700 users lost nearly $205 million in funds when JPEX raised withdrawal fees and ultimately shut down operations. These charges align with broader regional efforts to address promotional activities related to cryptocurrencies across Asia.
