Berachain Foundation Secures $12.8 Million from BEX/Balancer V2 Exploit Recovery

The Berachain Foundation has reported a successful recovery of approximately $12.8 million stolen in the BEX/Balancer V2 exploit. The funds have been returned to the foundation’s deployment wallet, with gratitude expressed towards white-hat hackers who facilitated this recovery process. The team plans to remove any malicious labels from affected addresses and may consider offering a bounty as a token of appreciation. While BEX functionalities remain restricted (exchange, withdrawal, deposit), minting and redemption of HONEY have resumed. However, the on-chain APR might show anomalies due to the suspension of BGT and incentive mechanisms over the past 24 hours. The Berachain core team is developing a system for distributing the recovered funds to original users, with deposits unaffected by the exploit remaining non-withdrawable for precautionary measures as the team carefully monitors Balancer’s ongoing investigation to ensure the secure return of all user funds.
