Coinbase’s Base Network Hit by $220,000 WETH Exploit

A major security incident has struck Coinbase’s Base network. CertiK, a leading smart contract auditing firm, discovered an exploit affecting an unverified contract on the platform. This vulnerability allowed malicious actors to siphon 55 Wrapped Ether (WETH), valued at approximately $220,000, from a victim who had previously granted approval to the address 0xE143b486ab0413.
