Tether, the cryptocurrency company, recently announced a significant expansion of its US Treasury bond holdings. CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed that Tether now holds a staggering $135 billion in US Treasury securities, placing them as the 17th largest holder of US debt. This move surpasses South Korea, according to Foresight News. Ardoino further indicates that Tether is poised to surpass Brazil’s holdings of US Treasuries soon.
