Germany to Review Motion on Bitcoin Recognition, Calling for Strategic Consideration

Germany’s parliament is scheduled to discuss a motion from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, urging the government to recognize Bitcoin as a unique digital asset deserving of strategic consideration. The motion challenges the overregulation of Bitcoin under the European Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The AfD argues that Bitcoin stands apart from other cryptocurrencies and should not face the same regulatory burdens. They express concern that excessive regulation could stifle Germany’s innovation, financial freedom, and digital sovereignty.
