Ethereum Gains Institutional Ground, Outpacing Bitcoin by Nearly 4 Times

Over the past year, institutional investments in Ethereum (ETH) have surged at a rate four times faster than those in Bitcoin (BTC). This shift highlights growing confidence in Ethereum’s distinct role alongside Bitcoin as a crucial digital asset. Analysts attribute this growth to factors like the launch of spot Ethereum ETFs and the widespread adoption of Ethereum in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. The data reveals that institutional investors are increasingly focusing on Ethereum, not just treating it as a secondary option. The ratio of ETH holdings compared to BTC has shifted from three-to-one to five-to-one, suggesting a potentially permanent shift in strategy. 6.8 million ETH coins now represent the total value of institutional holdings, more than double their Bitcoin counterparts’ holdings, according to recent research.
