Solana Co-Founder Raises Security Concerns About Layer 2 Networks

Tolu, co-founder of Solana, has recently raised concerns about the inherent security vulnerabilities in Layer 2 networks on the X platform. He argues that the complexity associated with creating a fully functional Layer 2 network coupled with a wide attack surface makes it difficult to guarantee complete system integrity and optimal performance. To mitigate these challenges, existing Layer 2 solutions typically employ an upgraded multi-signature mechanism, which Toly believes undermines security assurances. He asserts that this same multi-signature approach poses similar risks to cross-chain bridges like Wormhole, where control of bridged funds can be potentially transferred through the use of multi-signatures.
