Russia Legalizes Cryptocurrency for International Trade

On October 21st, the Russian Ministry of Finance and Central Bank announced a groundbreaking agreement: cryptocurrencies will now be legally used in international trade transactions. The new framework aims to bring greater order and transparency to a market that has largely operated outside conventional regulations. Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stated during a strategic session on improving economic efficiency that this move is necessary for government oversight of these markets and unlocking broader trade opportunities.  The decision reflects Russia’s ongoing adaptation of its economy in the face of geopolitical pressures and financial uncertainties.
