Ghana Targets Crypto Regulation Before Year-End

Ghana aims to establish clear cryptocurrency regulations by December 31st, according to its central bank governor, Johnson Asiama. Speaking at an IMF meeting, he highlighted the need for increased oversight and monitoring of crypto transactions. He explained that a framework is in place, with a new bill sent to Parliament for approval before year’s end. This will enable effective regulation of cryptocurrencies within Ghana, especially considering the country’s status as Africa’s largest gold producer, leading to new department creation and expertise development dedicated to this sector.
