Ethereum is on the cusp of a major breakthrough in transaction speed, potentially reaching 10,000 transactions per second thanks to a new scaling technology called Pico Prism. This advancement follows Brevis’ introduction of their cutting-edge zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM), designed for real-time proof generation. This technology allows for near instantaneous block validation using standard gaming GPUs instead of expensive supercomputers. 64 Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics cards, the leading model for gaming, were utilized to achieve a remarkable 99.6% real-time proving in under 12 seconds during a September test by Brevis. Real-time proving (RTP), involves generating a cryptographic proof that a block was executed correctly faster than new blocks are produced. This breakthrough marks a significant step toward scaling Ethereum by 100 times, enabling the blockchain to be validated from even mobile devices. 10,000 TPS would be achievable through this technology.
