RBI Prioritizes CBDC Over Cryptocurrencies in India

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) – known as the e-rupee – as a primary financial solution over private cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Governor Shaktikanta Das emphasized this preference, highlighting the need for a secure and efficient CBDC ecosystem in India.
