Bitdeer Expands Global Bitcoin Mining Capacity to 500 MW

Bitdeer Technologies Group has announced significant expansion of its global Bitcoin mining operations, aiming for a capacity of over 500 MW by the end of 2025. This strategic move is driven by a focus on infrastructure growth and increasing global reach. Key to this strategy are new sites in Ohio and Norway, with a recent addition of a facility in Bhutan as well. 20% increase in Bitcoin production was observed in September alone, indicating strong performance for the company. Bitdeer’s ambition extends beyond just mining capacity, aiming to enhance its hashrate from 35.0 EH/s to 40 EH/s. This expansion is expected to significantly impact global hash power and potentially shift market sentiment within the Bitcoin sector. The technology firm has begun exploring dual-use power allocation for both Bitcoin mining and AI workloads at the Clarington site, reflecting a proactive approach to adapt to evolving industry demands.
