Telkom Ordered to Roll Out Free Wi-Fi in South Africa’s Rural Communities

South Africa’s Icasa has mandated Telkom, a leading telecommunications company, to provide free Wi-Fi access across 171 Thusong Centres nationwide within six months. This follows Icasa’s initiative aimed at bridging the country’s digital divide. The move aims to enhance accessibility in rural and underserved areas by enabling residents to utilize government services and online opportunities like education and job searching.
