Binance Compensates Over $283 Million for Users Affected by Technical Glitches

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced a significant compensation package worth over $283 million to users affected by technical issues and market volatility that occurred on Friday. The focus of the payout is on losses incurred from de-pegged assets like USDE, BNSOL, and WBETH. This incident was triggered by a wave of selling activity by both institutional and retail investors between 20:50 and 22:00 UTC on October 10th. This selling resulted in rapid drops in asset values, with the most significant de-pegging occurring just after 21:36 UTC. Binance has committed to transparency and responsible handling of this situation, processing the compensation within 24 hours of the incident. The exchange also attributed some trading pair price fluctuations to past limit orders from 2019 that were triggered during periods of low liquidity.
