SEC Commissioner Warns Investors of Telegram Crypto Impersonation Scams

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce has issued a warning to investors, alerting them to the growing problem of fake Telegram accounts impersonating her to promote fraudulent crypto projects. Peirce, known as ‘Crypto Mom,’ cautions that scammers are using these accounts to lure individuals into purchasing nonexistent coins and investing in deceptive schemes. These scams exploit Telegram’s privacy features, allowing impersonators to pose as a public figure like Peirce to gain credibility with unsuspecting victims.
