North Dakota Launches Roughrider Coin for Improved Bank Transfers

North Dakota is set to launch Roughrider Coin, a USD-backed stablecoin designed for efficient bank transfers and merchant payments within its financial ecosystem. The initiative, spearheaded by the Bank of North Dakota, promises enhanced banking efficiency and quality control. Set to launch in 2026, Roughrider Coin will operate exclusively within regulated financial environments supported by licensed institutions. The state’s Industrial Commission has endorsed the project, driven by support from Governor Kelly Armstrong, Attorney General Drew Wrigley, and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. This move aligns with the GENIUS Act of 2025, encouraging the use of stablecoins in regulated settings.
