The Ethereum Foundation has launched a new Privacy Cluster to embed privacy as a core feature within the network, addressing increasing demands for secure and compliant transactions. The cluster, comprising 47 researchers and engineers, aims to leverage zero-knowledge (zk) technology to enhance privacy without compromising user data. This initiative builds upon ongoing efforts from the Privacy Stewards for Ethereum (PSE), who have developed numerous open-source privacy tools since 2018.
A key aspect of the initiative is the integration of existing projects such as Kohaku wallet and PlasmaFold, which offer advanced cryptography capabilities to developers and users. These advancements pave the way for decentralized applications to benefit from enhanced privacy while maintaining regulatory compliance.
