Ethereum Co-founder and Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin addressed recent speculation surrounding the MetaMask rewards program. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lubin clarified that the initiative is not a speculative token airdrop, but rather a way to incentivize real on-chain engagement through the Linea Layer 2 network. He confirmed early prototypes and announced a Season 1 plan for distributing over $30 million in LINEA tokens based on on-chain activity and user referrals. Lubin emphasized that this is just the beginning of a larger initiative aimed at strengthening MetaMask’s community connections, enabling even more robust features and rewards across products like Linea and the upcoming DIN.
