JAMB Exam Malpractice: Students Use AI to Rig UTME 2025

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) recently exposed a wave of sophisticated cheating techniques during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Chairman of the JAMB Special Committee on Examination Infractions, Dr. Jake Epelle, revealed that students used advanced technologies to manipulate the system. These tactics included AI-assisted impersonation and finger blending, leading to alarming statistics like 192 cases of AI cheating and 4,251 instances of finger matching. The committee’s investigation uncovered further cases of false disability claims and forged credentials, highlighting a deeper systemic issue.
