Reth Ethereum Client Suffers Bug Affecting Block Production

Paradigm’s Reth Ethereum execution client experienced a bug that caused some nodes to stall while offering a solution. The firm’s chief technologist Georgios Konstantopoulos announced the fix, which involves running specific commands to bypass the issue without significantly disrupting operations. The bug affected block production at block 2327426 on Ethereum mainnet versions 1.6.0 and 1.4.8. Reth’s state root computation was at fault, preventing new blocks from being validated. 45 minutes are required for the client to rebuild its trie before synchronizing again.
