OKX Faces $2.6M Fine for Unlicensed Operations in the Netherlands

The Dutch National Bank (DNB) has imposed a fine of €2.25 million ($2.6 million) on crypto exchange OKX, citing its operation without proper registration with the regulator. The penalty covers activities from July 2023 to August 2024, before the implementation of the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations. Local regulators had already implemented AML registration requirements for crypto firms in early 2020.
