Ethereum Client Reth Vulnerability Identified at Block 2327426: Limited Impact

A vulnerability in the Ethereum execution client, Reth developed by Paradigm, was detected at block 2327426, causing temporary outages for some nodes. The affected versions are Reth 1.6.0 and 1.4.8, according to Paradigm CTO Georgios Konstantopoulos. Paradigm has published recovery instructions on GitHub as the team investigates the root cause of the issue. While Reth powers only 5.4% of all Ethereum execution clients, it will have a limited impact on the network’s overall operation. This vulnerability arose in the midst of growing adoption of Reth as developers and node operators seek to improve Ethereum’s performance and modularity.
