US Regulators Clarify Rules for Spot Crypto Trading

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have jointly clarified rules governing the trading of spot cryptocurrencies within the United States. This joint statement indicates that existing regulations don’t prohibit regulated exchanges, including national securities exchanges, designated contract markets, and foreign boards of trade, from listing and facilitating spot crypto products, even those with leverage or margin features.
