Metaplanet, a prominent Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm, has made another significant purchase, acquiring 1,009 BTC worth $112 million. This brings their total to 20,000 BTC – less than three months after surpassing the 10,000 BTC mark. This acquisition positions Metaplanet as the sixth largest public Bitcoin treasury company, potentially overtaking Riot Platforms. The firm has revised its year-end target from 10,000 BTC to 30,000 BTC, illustrating a commitment to aggressive accumulation strategies. Metaplanet plans to raise $880 million through an international share offering with most proceeds allocated to Bitcoin purchases in the coming two months. CEO Simon Gerovich also hinted at leveraging Bitcoin reserves for acquisition opportunities in cash-generating businesses. The company’s stock declined 2.62% on Monday after the announcement, while U.S.-listed shares closed last Friday up slightly.
