Cryptocurrency security firm PeckShield reported a significant increase in crypto exploits in August 2025. Total losses reached $163 million across 16 incidents, marking a 15% rise from July’s $142 million. This surge was driven by vulnerability at both centralized exchanges and decentralized finance platforms, leading to major attacks.
