South Korean Police Crackdown on Crypto Hacking Syndicate, Targeting Wealthy Individuals

The South Korean police have apprehended 16 individuals suspected of being part of a sophisticated crypto hacking ring that stole millions from the country’s wealthiest citizens. The operation involved systematically targeting high-net-worth individuals across sectors such as entertainment and business, including K-pop star Jungkook, who was reportedly targeted for his substantial Hybe Entertainment holdings. The suspects allegedly used stolen personal information to create fake accounts and bypass security systems, ultimately siphoning millions in cryptocurrency from over 258 victims. Interpol assisted in the capture of two suspected ringleaders in Thailand. Authorities are now investigating how this group managed to hack into government and bank websites, emphasizing the need for heightened cybersecurity measures to protect high-profile individuals.
