Waller Advocates for 25 Basis Point Rate Cut at September FOMC Meeting

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller has indicated his support for a 25 basis point interest rate reduction at the upcoming September Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting. He anticipates additional reductions over the next three to six months. Waller emphasized that unless the August employment report reveals significant economic downturns and inflation remains stable, a larger rate cut in September is not deemed necessary.
