US Commerce Department Partners with Chainlink to Bring Economic Data on-Chain

The U.S. Department of Commerce has embarked on a groundbreaking partnership with Chainlink to make government economic data more accessible. This initiative will see real gross domestic product (GDP) data on the blockchain, starting in July 2025, following an initial announcement from the department today. With GDP growth at an annual rate of 3.3 percent, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the move represents a significant shift towards greater transparency and accessibility of economic data. Chainlink’s blog post details that six key macroeconomic datasets have been integrated onto-chain: Real GDP, PCE Price Index, and Real Final Sales to Private Domestic Purchasers. Chainlink has also shared that these newly incorporated data feeds are now available across ten blockchain networks including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Avalanche.
