The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is convening a roundtable discussion on the trade-through rule at its headquarters in Washington D.C., scheduled for September 18th. This event will feature opening remarks from SEC Commissioners Caroline Crenshaw and Hester Peirce, alongside Jamie Selway, Director of the Division of Trading and Markets. In addition to these remarks, SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins will deliver a speech. The roundtable discussion is expected to encompass three panel discussions exploring market participants’ experiences over the past two decades, the role of trade-through prohibition in contemporary markets, and potential future developments. These panels aim to shed light on the trade-through rule’s effectiveness and its impact on markets, with the goal of ensuring investors receive the most favorable prices when conducting trades.
