Ex-Polymarket & Kalshi Team Raises $15M for New Prediction Platform

A newly formed company, The Clearing Company, has secured a $15 million seed funding round to develop a new prediction market platform. The startup, founded by former employees of Polymarket and Kalshi, boasts a team with experience in both the prediction market and regulated financial systems. The company aims to create a groundbreaking on-chain, permissionless, and regulated prediction market, according to CEO Toni Gemayel. The funding was led by Union Square Ventures, with participation from notable investors including Haun Ventures, Variant, Coinbase Ventures, and several prominent figures in the crypto space such as Compound co-founder Robert Le. 286,000 active traders were recorded on Polymarket in July alone, indicating renewed interest in prediction markets.
