Google Cloud is introducing a new blockchain platform tailored for financial institutions, known as Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL). This private beta program aims to provide a neutral infrastructure for secure and transparent payments and financial product operations. 💰 ⚙️
Rich Widmann, Google Cloud’s Web3 Head of Strategy, announced the initiative on LinkedIn this week. He explained that GCUL will support Python-based smart contracts, offering a platform that financial institutions can readily integrate into their existing systems without reliance on existing networks like Tether or Adyen’s own blockchains.
Currently in private testnet phase, more details are expected to be released soon. 🤫
