Google Cloud Launches L1 Blockchain for Financial Infrastructure

Google Cloud has unveiled its L1 blockchain platform, GCUL, designed specifically for financial infrastructure. Leveraging Python-based smart contracts, GCUL aims to create a neutral and robust environment for financial transactions. The platform promises features like ‘native commercial bank on-chain currency,’ 24/7 capital market infrastructure, and efficient payment and agency functions. Its broad reach will leverage Google’s extensive user base of billions and partnerships with hundreds of institutions. Currently in the private testnet phase, GCUL recently partnered with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) for a pilot program involving tokenized assets. Technical details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
