HSBC Fined $4.2 Million for Disclosure Breaches

Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority fined HSBC $537,683 for failing to properly disclose investment-banking relationships in over 4,200 research notes issued between 2013-2021. The bank’s disclosure shortcomings stemmed from weak data reporting systems, leading to missing required disclosures appearing after research publication.
