Hong Kong Establishes Stablecoin Licensing Regime

Hong Kong has introduced a new licensing framework for stablecoins, effective August 1st, 2025. This move clarifies regulatory expectations but does not declare stablecoins legal tender. The framework aims to enhance investor protection and market stability. This is expected to increase confidence among institutional investors and solidify Hong Kong’s position as a global financial hub.
