Japan’s economy is looking towards the transformative potential of Web3 technology, according to its Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yoji Muto. At the WebX Asia 2025 conference, Muto outlined how Web3 can drive innovation across various industries like anime, manga, art, sports, and revitalizing local communities. He envisions using Web3 as a tool to empower small businesses and creators while fostering collaboration across sectors. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is actively supporting this vision through initiatives including tax reforms, legal amendments for financial support of Web3 startups, and the creation of a business environment conducive to unlocking Web3’s full potential.
