Two major institutional players, Strategy and Metaplanet, have strategically expanded their Bitcoin holdings during a recent correction. Strategy acquired approximately 3,081 BTC worth $356.9 million while Metaplanet purchased 103 BTC for $11.6 million, demonstrating continued confidence in the cryptocurrency despite market fluctuations. These purchases contribute to a combined control of 3.1% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply, exceeding $71 billion at current prices. Both companies capitalize on market correction opportunities and are positioning their treasuries for future growth. Strategy achieved this through a sizable acquisition of 3,081 BTC for approximately $356.9 million at an average price of $115,829 per Bitcoin, bringing their total holdings to over 632,457 BTC. Metaplanet’s acquisition further strengthened their position in Asia, accumulating a total of 18,991 BTC worth $1.9 billion. These purchases followed market turbulence after Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s dovish remarks at the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, causing a sharp rise in Bitcoin prices but also contributing to a short-term correction. The move by these institutional players highlights the growing role of institutional investors in shaping Bitcoin’s price discovery mechanism and underscores the increasing impact of corporate treasuries on cryptocurrency markets.
