Hong Kong Launches Committee to Strengthen Anti-Money Laundering Measures in Digital Assets

Hong Kong has established the Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Professional Committee (DAAMC) to enhance anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) standards within the digital asset industry. The committee, supported by the Hong Kong Virtual Asset Industry Association, brings together entities like SlowMist and RoundCoin. DAAMC aims to foster collaboration between regulated financial institutions in order to develop and promote best practices for AML/CFT. This committee will be aligned with HKMA guidelines concerning AML/CFT regulations applicable to licensed stablecoin issuers. DAAMC also plans to explore cutting-edge compliance standards, such as on-chain identity verification, focusing on emerging global trends in this space.
