AI Development Costs: 94% Believe in Long-Term Savings Despite High Integration Expenses

A recent Google Cloud survey revealed that a majority of developers (87%) are now utilizing AI agents to automate tasks, even as AI technology sparks concern among workers facing historic job losses. The report, conducted by Google in partnership with Harris Poll, surveyed 615 developers across the US, South Korea, Norway, Finland, and Sweden from late June to early July. Developers primarily highlighted AI agents’ contribution to streamlining repetitive or technical tasks, boosting productivity, and allowing them to focus on more creative responsibilities. Ninety-four percent expect long-term cost savings from AI adoption, although a quarter find it challenging to quantify return on investment due to the high upfront integration costs.
