BTCTurk Halts Crypto Transfers Following $48 Million Hot Wallet Breach

The crypto exchange BTCTurk has halted all cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals following a suspected $48 million hot wallet exploit affecting its operations across various networks. The attack, traced to two main Ethereum wallets holding significant amounts of Ether and Layer-2 coins, is attributed to the movement of stolen assets to the Ethereum blockchain, with minor assets on the network also converted into ETH for faster liquidation. The breach also targeted Solana, specifically a tagged wallet named “PNUT Whale,” which stored meme tokens SOL, stablecoins, and held over $6 million worth of assets before the exploit.
