Nigerian Commission Upholds Telecom Infrastructure Protection amid Strikes and Sabotage Concerns

Nigeria’s Communications Commission (NCC) reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding telecom infrastructure, categorized as a Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII). This follows the recent suspension of planned strikes by the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA), which posed a threat to data and voice service disruption. The NCC’s stance is underscored by discussions with NOGASA leadership regarding the potential economic and national security consequences of service outages. The NCC, in partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), led by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has highlighted the importance of telecom infrastructure as a driving force for digital economy development and connectivity.
