Idris Olorunnimbe Named NCC Chairman, New Board Members Confirmed

Nigeria’s Communications Commission (NCC) has appointed Idris Olorunnimbe as its new chairman. This appointment follows the constitution of the NCC board and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) board, which also included a confirmation of Aminu Waida as Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer. Olorunnimbe’s experience includes serving on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board, where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee. He brings expertise in youth employment and entrepreneurship. Olorunnimbe will now lead the NCC alongside Aminu Waida. The new board also features Abraham Oshidami as executive commissioner for technical services, Rimini Makama as executive commissioner for stakeholder management, Maryam Bayi as former director of human capital & administration, Cornel Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd), and Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, Princess Oforitsenere Emiko. The USPF board was also formed, with Bosun Tijani serving as Chairman and Idris Olorunnimbe as Vice Chairman. This new leadership signals a focus on achieving national goals for digital accessibility in rural communities.
