South Korea Shifts Investment Focus from Big Tech to Crypto-Linked Equities

South Korean retail investors are increasingly turning away from established U.S. tech giants like Apple and Microsoft in favor of volatile crypto-linked stocks, according to data released by the Korean Center for International Finance (KCIF). A report shows a significant shift from Big Tech holdings, with crypto-linked equities rising to 36.5% of net purchases in June before declining slightly to 31.5% in July. This trend is attributed to growing acceptance of stablecoins and new regulations like the U.S. GENIUS Act.
