Malaysia’s Central Bank Examines XRP as a Payment System Alternative

In a recent working paper, the Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) explored the potential for private tokens like XRP to serve as alternatives to traditional bank deposits. The BNM’s research suggests that these tokens could play an expanded role in payments outside of traditional banking systems in the future, potentially replacing current deposit methods.
