World Mobile has launched a groundbreaking project utilizing drones and blockchain technology to build a 5G network spanning the globe. The initiative, in partnership with Indonesian telecom company Protelindo, aims to bridge communication gaps by providing wireless connectivity directly to users worldwide. The project employs hydrogen-powered drones operating at altitudes of 60,000 feet to deliver coverage over up to 15,000 square kilometers per aircraft using 450 individual beams, according to Charles Barnett, World Mobile Group’s Chief Business Officer. This aerial network surpasses the latency and costs associated with traditional satellite-based telecom. Satellite communications are projected to reach a market value of $159 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research.
