The Embargo ransomware group has solidified its position as a leading cybercriminal force, amassing over $34 million in cryptocurrency ransom payments since April 2024. Operating under the ‘ransomware-as-a-service’ (RaaS) model, Embargo has targeted critical US infrastructure, impacting healthcare providers and pharmaceutical networks. Notable victims include American Associated Pharmacies, Georgia-based Memorial Hospital and Manor, and Weiser Memorial Hospital in Idaho. Ransom demands have reportedly reached up to $1.3 million for these attacks.
