Crypto Risks: Kidnapping & Extortion Threats On The Rise

Alena Vranova, founder of SatoshiLabs, has warned about a concerning trend: crypto theft through kidnapping and extortion. During the Baltic Honeybadger 2025 conference in Riga, Latvia, she revealed that at least one Bitcoin holder is abducted or threatened weekly. This highlights the increasing risk for users from all backgrounds, as even small investments are vulnerable to violent crime.
