Amazon Powers Up Data Centers with Nuclear Energy Deal

Amazon has secured a significant deal with Talen Energy to power its Pennsylvania data centers using 1,920 megawatts of nuclear energy. This agreement will continue until 2042, supplying Amazon’s facilities in the state. The company plans to leverage this renewable source for its web servers and AI data centers, while also exploring the potential of small modular reactors (SMRs) in the future. Instead of direct connection from the plant, energy will be delivered via the grid, with Amazon contributing to infrastructure maintenance through service fees.
